Golden Granite

Become a member of the Golden Granite Hall of Fame!

Did you make a resolution to get fit in 2010? Why not help yourself stick to it by setting yourself the challenge of entering a sporting event, while raising money for a great cause?

This year we are launching the Golden Granite Challenge – an initiative that’s all about people taking on various challenges, carrying with them a piece of granite from a quarry in Bangalore India, and using it to raise funds for 40K.

Alternatively, if you aren’t the next Lance Armstrong, a challenge doesn’t always have to be physical! Why not give up smoking/ chocolate/alcohol, pledge to walk to work everyday, or don’t talk for 24 hours? You can either join in on a publically organised event or create your own unique one.

To launch the campaign, we’ve had some crazy nutters put their hands up to do three crazy events..

Justin Jones - 82km Ultra Marathon through the rugged and beautiful Cradle Mountains National Park

Alex Coombes - 11km epic Bridge to Beach ocean swim from the Sydney Harbour Bridge to Manly on Sunday 7th March

Stewart Wood and Lachlan Youll - 100km run through the Blue Mountains in  the NorthFace 100.

Sydney Running Festival

This year 40K has been selected as an official supporter charity of the Sydney Running Festival. In 2009 Freehills Law Firm came on board and raised $30,000 through the Sydney Running Festival.

This year Freehills has come on board again having enjoyed an enormous internal benefit from their association with 40K. We are in the process of speaking to other organisations and would encourage any corporate group to become involved. 40K also has a team of volunteers and supporters who are running and raising funds to help children in India.
